Dirty Bomb

Dirty Bomb is my new band, built from the ashes of the Private Wars band. Matt Tebo plays drums, Joe Loftus is on bass. New members include the estimable Kat Jackson on vocals and the ineffable Mark Felsenthal on guitar.

We've played a grand total of one gig, at Journopalooza II in January 2010. But that gig went well enough that we now might even play another.

We've been recording in Matt's shed out in Kensington, putting together a concept album about the rise and fall of a lobbyist. We think it's the sort of universal theme that will go over big with that vital 18-to-34 demographic.

It's hard recording on your own, primarily because there's nobody to say "You are done now." Nevertheless, here are a few:

The King of DC

07 The King of DC (Dec 2k9)

A song about living the high life. This is one of the most ambitious arrangements on the record. Dig that glockenspiel.

Whatcha Gonna Do?

08 Whatcha Gonna Do_ (Nov 22k9)

We built this song around a New Orleans drum pattern that Matt was playing one day. Matt forgot the pattern, but fortunately the rest of us remembered our parts. Alex Danovitch cameos on the funky clavi.

Phantoms!

02 Phantoms! (Nov 2k9)

A hard-rockin' tale that ties together bush wars, surplus military hardware and the appropriations process.
